Coaches and trip leaders are key to the club’s success and we operate on a “pay it forward” principal.

Trip Leaders Resource

The club’s trip leaders ensure the club can offer a full and exciting calendar each year – and we value the personal time volunteered to make these trips happen.

Becoming a trip leader can seem daunting. However, the more experienced coaches and trip leaders are incredibly willing to support people who are interested in getting more involved in running trips. If you are interested in leading small groups, in sheltered water, please let us know.

Insurance

Official club trips which are published in the calendar are covered by club insurance.

Other Trip Leaders and Authorisations

We have a list of club trip leaders on the website. The official BCU/SCA qualification pathways are also noted on our website but these are not the only route to being a trip leader, as the club recognises experience. Why not have a chat to our Coaching Coordinator if you’d like to get more involved?

Club Standard operating procedure

Guidance on the rules that cover club trips is written up the SOP. See the Club Documents page

Guidance Notes and Other Info

We have written some small guides and the trip form is also a useful tool to use. These are on the Club Documents page.

Club Coaches

Qualified coaches are vital to the success of our club. Again if you would like to get involved, we run a short induction process, at the start of each season. We talk through how things work and the different roles you can play. However it is worth noting, PVG checks need to be carried out on both Coaches and Trip Leaders, to comply with our Child Protection Policy. If you would like to discuss any concerns relating to child protection please contact our Child Protection Officer.
