Paddle Festival 9th September 2012.

We submitted the following article to SCA Paddler Magazine. Our hope is it will be published in the January edition along with some photos of the event. Paddle Festival 9th September 2012. Photos On Sunday 9th September 2012 Drumchapel & Clydebank Kayak Club held a Paddle Festival at The Boat House Pier shore in Balloch Castel Park on the Bonny Banks of Loch Lomond. The Festival was part of “Get Active Loch Lomond” & West Dunbartonshire Councils “The Great Outdoors Festivals” What an amazing day, the weather was good and the public response, especially from kids was beyond our expectations. They just kept coming! All boats were on the water the whole day which was very challenging for all our coaches/water safety cover, catering and changing room staff. Fitting in a cup of tea a hotdog or a pee were major challenges! There was likewise a great response to the land-based activities with good attendances at the Throw bag target;  Kit-Up Challenge; Fitness...

AGM – Chairman and Treasurer Needed!

In the last committee meeting Bill and Shona explained they were not going to stand for reelection as Treasurer and Chairman for 2012/13. They have both done a fantastic job, helping the club have a happy motivated committee, lots of events, money to provide excellent equipment and many new members. To keep all this carrying on we need to replace them! If you might be happy to stand for either of these positions then why not chat to Bill or Shona about what they do. You can also find out more general infomation about these roles at the following website http://www.helpforclubs.org.uk/ChannelNavigation/Resource+Library/Publications/Running+Sport+booklets.htm...

Knoydart Sea Kayak Trip

This is a combined paddling and hillwalking trip which is being run by Sandy running from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 july 2012. The plan at the moment is to meet at the container on the Friday night at around 17.00 to be up at Kinloch Hourn for around 21.00 which is high water in Loch Hourn. We will then paddle the 10 kms to Barrisdale Bay where we will camp overnight. Saturday will be a hillwalk with the premium route being a circuit of Coire Dhorrcail on Ladhar Bheinn (pronounced Larven). Should a day's walking not suit there is the option of sea paddling on Loch Hourn. There are alternative low level walks also. Sunday will be a paddle on Loch Hourn back to Kinloch Hourn. You will need to be self sufficient with regards to camping and hillwalking equipment although Sandy will try to arrange for tent-sharing to reduce the amount of kit that we need to take. To...
