SUMMARY:ROOTS Trip
DESCRIPTION:You have the basics of manoeuvring a sea kayak and keeping it going in a straight line. Now you want to get out into a coastal environment and experience the joy of sea kayaking. ROOTS sessions (Reaching Out Onto The Sea) will combine a short trip with some coaching input to help you start to develop the solid sea kayaking skills that will give you the confidence to sign up for club trips. Numbers are limited and you should notify your interest for any trip to the trip leader at least 1 week in advance. Please note\, the logistics of transporting kayaks mean that it will be necessary for you to have access to a vehicle with roof bars and / or be prepared to car share. \nLead: \nAndrew McCall \n07768178000

SUMMARY:Pool Sessions 2024 2025
DESCRIPTION:DCKC Pool sessions \nOur swimming pool sessions happen at Clydebank Swimming Pool [ Google maps link ] every Tuesday evening from September to the end of April.  Generally these are informal sessions which offer the opportunity to practise techniques and get used to being in a kayak.  With the benefit of being in warm/heated water\, it’s the perfect opportunity to practise support strokes\, capsize procedures\, kayak rolling\, balance exercises\, and even just getting in and out of a kayak. \nPool session times \n7.30 to 9pm.** \nWhat to bring:-\nA towel\nSwimming costume\nMany also choose to bring a thin thermal or t-shirt + Swimming shorts (as spend a lot of time out of the water)\nSwimming googles\nFee for swimming pool\nOptional (you can also bring if you wish – there is no requirement to bring these)\nNeoprene Spray-deck\nYour own paddle\n\nWhat we provide\nKayaks (general purpose plastic & kayak polo style)\nPaddles\nNylon Spray-decks\n\nNOTES: \n– This is a community even run by volunteers.  Please come along expecting to help manoeuvring kayaks and equipment in and out of the pool and into storage.  If you are unsure how to help please ask someone   \n– When you arrive at the pool there is no need to pay at the front desk – please continue through the changing area\, get changed and payment can be made in cash at the poolside.  The pool session prices are shown here. \n– In the kayak store on the far bank of the pool\, the kayaks should be emptied of water and must be stored nose down (drain bung upwards) so that any remaining/residual water does not run out onto the store floor.   \n– If the pool is busy (more people than boats) we may split the session in 2 or just ask people to work in pairs.\n\n**Unfortunately COVID impacts at the Leisure Centre mean we are not back to our regular 2 hour sessions but rather have a 90 minutes session.

SUMMARY:Mind-blowing Shetland Summer Expedition
DESCRIPTION:For the past few years we have managed to run a 9 day sea kayaking expedition trip with venues including\, Orkney\, Shetland\, West Coast and Islands and the North East Coast. This year we are hoping to make it a Shetland year (weather permitting!!!). We stay flexible and always have a back plan B\, C and D for different weather patterns. \nThe expedition can be fairly popular and we normally limit numbers to 12 group members so we ask people interested to email us to note interest (info@dckc.co.uk).  We can then let people know if they can be accommodated but we also normally keep a reserve list too. The trip normally has some time camping on campsites but also aims for a few days on expedition\, wild camping and journeying. \nThis year we are thinking of ferry out on Thursday 22nd August in the evening\, catching ferry back on the Saturday evening (31st August) after a shorter day paddle. \nTo progress to booking ferries please can you note any interest by 14th June! \n\nAwesome Shetland Week112 photos\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n\n\n  \n  \n

\nLead: \nCelia Gray \n07762 709 027
