SUMMARY:Mind-blowing Shetland Summer Expedition
DESCRIPTION:For the past few years we have managed to run a 9 day sea kayaking expedition trip with venues including\, Orkney\, Shetland\, West Coast and Islands and the North East Coast. This year we are hoping to make it a Shetland year (weather permitting!!!). We stay flexible and always have a back plan B\, C and D for different weather patterns. \nThe expedition can be fairly popular and we normally limit numbers to 12 group members so we ask people interested to email us to note interest (info@dckc.co.uk).  We can then let people know if they can be accommodated but we also normally keep a reserve list too. The trip normally has some time camping on campsites but also aims for a few days on expedition\, wild camping and journeying. \nThis year we are thinking of ferry out on Thursday 22nd August in the evening\, catching ferry back on the Saturday evening (31st August) after a shorter day paddle. \nTo progress to booking ferries please can you note any interest by 14th June! \n\nAwesome Shetland Week112 photos\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n\n\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:ROOTS Trip
DESCRIPTION:You have the basics of manoeuvring a sea kayak and keeping it going in a straight line. Now you want to get out into a coastal environment and experience the joy of sea kayaking. ROOTS sessions (Reaching Out Onto The Sea) will combine a short trip with some coaching input to help you start to develop the solid sea kayaking skills that will give you the confidence to sign up for club trips. Numbers are limited and you should notify your interest for any trip to the trip leader at least 1 week in advance. Please note\, the logistics of transporting kayaks mean that it will be necessary for you to have access to a vehicle with roof bars and / or be prepared to car share. \nLead: \nCelia Gray \n07762 709 027

SUMMARY:Pinkston Open Day Gale Spectacular - Request for DCKC volunteers
DESCRIPTION:Pinkston Watersports turns 10 and the watersports charity and the clubs who use the centre are planning to celebrate with a giant open day/\, gala event on the 3rd of August. DCKC will be one of the clubs offering taster sessions for local people who come to the event with qualified coaches and leaders helping our on the basin. With such a big paddlesports event there is a call for volunteers to help out with making the event a success. The current draft program is below. \nIf you are a qualified coach or leader and fancy helping out with the sessions you can contact graham (graham.m.swanson@gmail.com) or register with the centre directly. If you are willing to help out with the wider event use the QR code below. It should be an amazing and busy event. \nGraham \nIn their email Pinkston said: \n“The Gala Day event is taking shape – the poster is with a designer for launch before the school holidays\, and the programme is outlined below.  The ‘orange’ sections are currently pending – all else is confirmed.   We have a cute coffee cart\, a Mr Whippy\, a gourmet tattie scone cart – and Braveheart catering with their brilliant burgers & fajitas.  We also have the portaloos booked!  Parking will be at 3 off site locations surrounding the Centre. There will be a free volunteer café for lunch/refreshments for our helpers and a First Aid station.  The Lord Provost is coming along\, and we will be handing out birthday cake throughout the day – and significantly the majority of the funding is in place.” \n“To make the day a huge success we need your help please.  We want to offer short taster paddlesport sessions all day long – and we need welcome desk support / parking marshals and more.   To make life easier I have added a QR code to record the volunteers\, the times folk are available and what they would like to do on the day.  This is also made up as an attachment – so that you can pass this out to your club members / staff / anyone else who might be interested in helping on the day.  “ \n PLEASE use the QR Code and add your preferences

SUMMARY:Loch Morar
DESCRIPTION:Taking into account the drive up\, the aim will be to start the paddle around lunchtime with an over night camp at South Tarbet Bay.   Launching at the pretty wooded area\, at the foot of the loch\, we’ll explore the small islands within the loch.   Then travel 14k to our camp spot just beyond Swordland Lodge which was used as a training facility for special ops\, during WWII.   If we are brave enough\, it may be worth carrying out a special op of our own to check out the facility. \nOn the 2nd day we’ll explore the wilder but no less beautify upper end of the loch and travel back to our put-in point.   Covering approx 23k to fully explore all that Loch Morar has to offer.   Parking is very limited here\, as is camping\, so please express interest in advance. \nContact Leigh – 07748326210

\nLead: \nAlan Rollo \n07775 827 981
