DESCRIPTION:DCKC Pool sessions \nOur swimming pool sessions happen at Clydebank Swimming Pool [ Google maps link ] every Tuesday evening from September to the end of April.  Generally these are informal sessions which offer the opportunity to practise techniques and get used to being in a kayak.  With the benefit of being in warm/heated water\, it’s the perfect opportunity to practise support strokes\, capsize procedures\, kayak rolling\, balance exercises\, and even just getting in and out of a kayak. \nPool session times \n7.30 to 9pm.** \nWhat to bring:-\nA towel\nSwimming costume\nMany also choose to bring a thin thermal or t-shirt + Swimming shorts (as spend a lot of time out of the water)\nSwimming googles\nFee for swimming pool\nOptional (you can also bring if you wish – there is no requirement to bring these)\nNeoprene Spray-deck\nYour own paddle\n\nWhat we provide\nKayaks (general purpose plastic & kayak polo style)\nPaddles\nNylon Spray-decks\n\nNOTES: \n– This is a community even run by volunteers.  Please come along expecting to help manoeuvring kayaks and equipment in and out of the pool and into storage.  If you are unsure how to help please ask someone   \n– When you arrive at the pool there is no need to pay at the front desk – please continue through the changing area\, get changed and payment can be made in cash at the poolside.  The pool session prices are shown here. \n– In the kayak store on the far bank of the pool\, the kayaks should be emptied of water and must be stored nose down (drain bung upwards) so that any remaining/residual water does not run out onto the store floor.   \n– If the pool is busy (more people than boats) we may split the session in 2 or just ask people to work in pairs.\n\n**Unfortunately COVID impacts at the Leisure Centre mean we are not back to our regular 2 hour sessions but rather have a 90 minutes session.

DESCRIPTION:The Mince Pie paddle is a great DCKC tradition. Always the last weekend before Christmas unless the weather says No! So we have rescheduled for Saturday 11th January 2025. We set off from Millarochy Bay to Inchcailloch\, have a BBQ\, mince pies on BBQ after. Then a wee walk up to summit for beautiful view up Loch Lomond. Paddlers can access the course with their preferred craft which can include kayaks\, rafts\, canoes and stand up paddleboards. The White-Water Safety course is a 2-day programme that consists of 9 modules.

DESCRIPTION:DCKC Pool sessions \nOur swimming pool sessions happen at Clydebank Swimming Pool [ Google maps link ] every Tuesday evening from September to the end of April.  Generally these are informal sessions which offer the opportunity to practise techniques and get used to being in a kayak.  With the benefit of being in warm/heated water\, it’s the perfect opportunity to practise support strokes\, capsize procedures\, kayak rolling\, balance exercises\, and even just getting in and out of a kayak. \nPool session times \n7.30 to 9pm.** \nWhat to bring:-\nA towel\nSwimming costume\nMany also choose to bring a thin thermal or t-shirt + Swimming shorts (as spend a lot of time out of the water)\nSwimming googles\nFee for swimming pool\nOptional (you can also bring if you wish – there is no requirement to bring these)\nNeoprene Spray-deck\nYour own paddle\n\nWhat we provide\nKayaks (general purpose plastic & kayak polo style)\nPaddles\nNylon Spray-decks\n\nNOTES: \n– This is a community even run by volunteers.  Please come along expecting to help manoeuvring kayaks and equipment in and out of the pool and into storage.  If you are unsure how to help please ask someone   \n– When you arrive at the pool there is no need to pay at the front desk – please continue through the changing area\, get changed and payment can be made in cash at the poolside.  The pool session prices are shown here. \n– In the kayak store on the far bank of the pool\, the kayaks should be emptied of water and must be stored nose down (drain bung upwards) so that any remaining/residual water does not run out onto the store floor.   \n– If the pool is busy (more people than boats) we may split the session in 2 or just ask people to work in pairs.\n\n**Unfortunately COVID impacts at the Leisure Centre mean we are not back to our regular 2 hour sessions but rather have a 90 minutes session.

SUMMARY:Guy Fawkes Night Paddle & Bonfire
DESCRIPTION:[ note: Check the calendar for this event appearing ]\n \n\nA night paddle leaving from Luss with a \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nmodest-sized bonfire (with no planned explosions!).  Bring pumpkins\, sparklers\, home baking\, things to toast on the fire\, or anything else your imagination cooks up.  Also bring a mug for a hot beverage.    \n  \nUnsure if this trip is for you? \nTo come along on this you should have:- \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ndone a capsize drill or ‘wet exit’ ( as it’s sometimes called ) with a spray-deck on\, either outdoors or in the pool \nbeen canoeing / Kayaking outdoors on lochs\, or the sea\, a few times before.  Example outdoor trips would include Second Saturday / Roots / Loch Lomond Tuesday evenings \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nWhat to bring  \nAt very reasonable cost you can hire the following from the club: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nkayak\npaddle\nsleeveless wetsuite \ncagoule\nspraydeck \nBuoyancy Aid  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditional items to bring \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne thin and one thicker long sleeve top/thermal to wear underneath cagoule / wetsuite \nwet-boots or old trainers.  If you have wet-socks best to wear old trainers to save them getting trashed! \na big towel or changing robe to get changed in\na warm hat\na headtorch + spare batteries\na spare dry thermal or fleece for off the water  \na  warm jacket for off the water \nSmall dry bag for phone / keys (you should be able to ask someone else to take your phone / car keys if you need them with you and you don’t have a dry bag ) \nA dry bag for spare warm clothes (you should also be able to ask someone else to take your dry clothes if you don’t have a dry bag ) \n£5 trip fees\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nOptional items to bring \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGloves for off water\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nToilets\, Changing and Car Parking:– \n\nThere are public toilets and Car Parking at Luss Public Car Park\, (Parking Cost £1.00/hour). Take a big towel or changing robe/dressing gown for changing in. \n\nMeeting points: \n\nYou can meet us at one of two places:- \n\n\n\n\n1. If you have your own transport and equipment you can meet us at the Luss Public Car Park. Park as close to Launch Point as possible. We are aiming to be on the water as close to 7.15pm as possible\, although it may be a little after this.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2. If you wish to borrow a kayak/Canoe/SUP and/or equipment (paddle\, wetsuite\, Spray Deck\, Buoyancy Aid) from the club then meet at the club container at Balloch at 6:15pm.  We’ll load kayaks and share lifts from Balloch to meet everyone in Luss\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n
