DESCRIPTION:DCKC Pool sessions \nOur swimming pool sessions happen at Clydebank Swimming Pool [ Google maps link ] every Tuesday evening from September to the end of April.  Generally these are informal sessions which offer the opportunity to practise techniques and get used to being in a kayak.  With the benefit of being in warm/heated water\, it’s the perfect opportunity to practise support strokes\, capsize procedures\, kayak rolling\, balance exercises\, and even just getting in and out of a kayak. \nPool session times \n7.30 to 9pm. \nWhat to bring:-\nA towel\nSwimming costume\nMany also choose to bring a thin thermal or t-shirt + Swimming shorts (as spend a lot of time out of the water)\nSwimming googles\nFee for swimming pool\nOptional (you can also bring if you wish – there is no requirement to bring these)\nNeoprene Spray-deck\nYour own paddle\n\nWhat we provide\nKayaks (general purpose plastic & kayak polo style)\nPaddles\nNylon Spray-decks\n\nNOTES: \n– This is a community even run by volunteers.  Please come along expecting to help manoeuvring kayaks and equipment in and out of the pool and into storage.  If you are unsure how to help please ask someone   \n– When you arrive at the pool there is no need to pay at the front desk – please continue through the changing area\, get changed and payment can be made in cash at the poolside.  The pool session prices are shown here.\n– In the kayak store on the far bank of the pool\, the kayaks should be emptied of water and must be stored nose down (drain bung upwards) so that any remaining/residual water does not run out onto the store floor.   \n– If the pool is busy (more people than boats) we may split the session in 2 or just ask people to work in pairs.\n\n**Unfortunately COVID impacts at the Leisure Centre mean we are not back to our regular 2 hour sessions but rather have a 90 minutes session.

DESCRIPTION:Pinkston Watersports is an artificial white water course in the outskirts of Glasgow. The club have a regular Thursday night slot which runs from 8pm to 9.30pm. It is a great place to learn the basics of paddling in moving water or to develop and hone river or sea skills.\n\nWe are also able to access the “basin” (a flat water section) at 7.30pm to warm up.\n\nWe have a dedicated and trained member who ensures safety throughout the evening and adjusts the pumps to the required flow. We normally vary the number of pumps during the session depending on the group. We mainly run on 2 pumps but may switch to 1 pump for those new to moving water or to 3 pumps for the more adventurous.\n\n\nIMPORTANT: CONTACT US BEFORE COMING ALONG FOR A FIRST TIME – PLEASE DO NOT JUST TURN UP!   \n \nPLEASE BRING CASH TO PAY FOR THE WATER AND PUMP TIME \n\n\n\n\nThere are normally a range of experienced paddlers or coaches around to offer informal advice but we also run specific coached sessions too. Contact us on pinkston@dckc.co.uk to find out more.\n\nWe have a number of boats stored at Pinkston which cater for all sizes as well as wetsuits\, paddlers\, helmets etc. Price £10 / (DCKC Members Under 18s £5)\n\nMonklands Canoe Club \nThe session is run together with the lovely people from Monklands Canoe Club.\n\nGuest Paddlers from SCA Clubs and SCA Members\nWe are able to offer guest spaces to members of SCA affiliated clubs (or an SCA member). DESCRIPTION:The club AGM will be held on Wednesday 28th October at 7.30pm at Station Inn\, Bearsden G61 4AN..  If anyone would prefer to attend the AGM remotely\, please contact  (info@dckc.co.uk) and we will do our best to also facilitate an online option (e.g. via Zoom or otherwise) although this will depend on signal in the private room.\n\nAll members are welcome and encouraged to attend the AGM. As well as finding out more about how the club work there is the chance to bring up items and contribute to any discussions.\n\n\nThis meeting is in the private room of a pub where you can buy drinks and a food before\, or after the meeting \n\nNew members of the committee are also very welcome – if you are interested in joining the committee please feel free to chat informally to a current committee member to find out what is involved. Being a committee member is not too onerous – we have a meeting once every 2 months – and is a good way to meet other folk within the club.\nWe look forward to seeing you all on 22nd October! DESCRIPTION:Following in the tradition of the longstanding Loch Awe Village Hall weekends\, we have booked Ballachulish Village Hall for a combined River and Sea weekend. \nThis trip is in need of organisers and leaders! \nTo help organise and co-ordinate the weekend please contact June – 07740 531632. \nLeaders\, or to sign-up for the weekend please contact Misha – 07787 572447\nThe location offers great options for river and sea trips\, so there’s plenty of paddling on offer. \nAccommodation is in the hall\, so no tents are required\, but you’ll need to bring something to sleep on and under.  \nThe village hall has a small kitchen – breakfast and dinner on the Saturday are normally communal affairs \nCome along and celebrate the end of a (hopefully) great summer of paddling on a trip that has something for everyone!

DESCRIPTION:Pinkston Watersports is an artificial white water course in the outskirts of Glasgow. The club have a regular Thursday night slot which runs from 8pm to 9.30pm. It is a great place to learn the basics of paddling in moving water or to develop and hone river or sea skills.\n\nWe are also able to access the “basin” (a flat water section) at 7.30pm to warm up.\n\nWe have a dedicated and trained member who ensures safety throughout the evening and adjusts the pumps to the required flow. We normally vary the number of pumps during the session depending on the group. DESCRIPTION:DCKC Pool sessions \nOur swimming pool sessions happen at Clydebank Swimming Pool [ Google maps link ] every Tuesday evening from September to the end of April.  Generally these are informal sessions which offer the opportunity to practise techniques and get used to being in a kayak.  With the benefit of being in warm/heated water\, it’s the perfect opportunity to practise support strokes\, capsize procedures\, kayak rolling\, balance exercises\, and even just getting in and out of a kayak. \nPool session times \n7.30 to 9pm. \nWhat to bring:-\nA towel\nSwimming costume\nMany also choose to bring a thin thermal or t-shirt + Swimming shorts (as spend a lot of time out of the water)\nSwimming googles\nFee for swimming pool\nOptional (you can also bring if you wish – there is no requirement to bring these)\nNeoprene Spray-deck\nYour own paddle\n\nWhat we provide\nKayaks (general purpose plastic & kayak polo style)\nPaddles\nNylon Spray-decks\n\nNOTES: \n– This is a community even run by volunteers.  Please come along expecting to help manoeuvring kayaks and equipment in and out of the pool and into storage.  If you are unsure how to help please ask someone   \n– When you arrive at the pool there is no need to pay at the front desk – please continue through the changing area\, get changed and payment can be made in cash at the poolside.  The pool session prices are shown here.\n– In the kayak store on the far bank of the pool\, the kayaks should be emptied of water and must be stored nose down (drain bung upwards) so that any remaining/residual water does not run out onto the store floor.   \n– If the pool is busy (more people than boats) we may split the session in 2 or just ask people to work in pairs.\n\n**Unfortunately COVID impacts at the Leisure Centre mean we are not back to our regular 2 hour sessions but rather have a 90 minutes session.

DESCRIPTION:DCKC Pool sessions \nOur swimming pool sessions happen at Clydebank Swimming Pool [ Google maps link ] every Tuesday evening from September to the end of April.  Generally these are informal sessions which offer the opportunity to practise techniques and get used to being in a kayak.  With the benefit of being in warm/heated water\, it’s the perfect opportunity to practise support strokes\, capsize procedures\, kayak rolling\, balance exercises\, and even just getting in and out of a kayak. \nPool session times \n7.30 to 9pm. \nWhat to bring:-\nA towel\nSwimming costume\nMany also choose to bring a thin thermal or t-shirt + Swimming shorts (as spend a lot of time out of the water)\nSwimming googles\nFee for swimming pool\nOptional (you can also bring if you wish – there is no requirement to bring these)\nNeoprene Spray-deck\nYour own paddle\n\nWhat we provide\nKayaks (general purpose plastic & kayak polo style)\nPaddles\nNylon Spray-decks\n\nNOTES: \n– This is a community even run by volunteers.  Please come along expecting to help manoeuvring kayaks and equipment in and out of the pool and into storage.  If you are unsure how to help please ask someone   \n– When you arrive at the pool there is no need to pay at the front desk – please continue through the changing area\, get changed and payment can be made in cash at the poolside.  The pool session prices are shown here.\n– In the kayak store on the far bank of the pool\, the kayaks should be emptied of water and must be stored nose down (drain bung upwards) so that any remaining/residual water does not run out onto the store floor.   \n– If the pool is busy (more people than boats) we may split the session in 2 or just ask people to work in pairs.\n\n**Unfortunately COVID impacts at the Leisure Centre mean we are not back to our regular 2 hour sessions but rather have a 90 minutes session.

DESCRIPTION:Pinkston Watersports is an artificial white water course in the outskirts of Glasgow. The club have a regular Thursday night slot which runs from 8pm to 9.30pm. It is a great place to learn the basics of paddling in moving water or to develop and hone river or sea skills.\n\nWe are also able to access the “basin” (a flat water section) at 7.30pm to warm up.\n\nWe have a dedicated and trained member who ensures safety throughout the evening and adjusts the pumps to the required flow. We normally vary the number of pumps during the session depending on the group. We mainly run on 2 pumps but may switch to 1 pump for those new to moving water or to 3 pumps for the more adventurous.\n\n\nIMPORTANT: CONTACT US BEFORE COMING ALONG FOR A FIRST TIME – PLEASE DO NOT JUST TURN UP!   \n \nPLEASE BRING CASH TO PAY FOR THE WATER AND PUMP TIME \n\n\n\n\nThere are normally a range of experienced paddlers or coaches around to offer informal advice but we also run specific coached sessions too. Contact us on pinkston@dckc.co.uk to find out more.\n\nWe have a number of boats stored at Pinkston which cater for all sizes as well as wetsuits\, paddlers\, helmets etc. Price £10 / (DCKC Members Under 18s £5)\n\nMonklands Canoe Club \nThe session is run together with the lovely people from Monklands Canoe Club.\n\nGuest Paddlers from SCA Clubs and SCA Members\nWe are able to offer guest spaces to members of SCA affiliated clubs (or an SCA member). Key information is noted below:\n\nTimes: Thursdays – access to the white water course is from 8pm to 9.30pm.\nFormat: We mix up the number of pumps being used depending on who is there\, but typically have a period of 2 pumps every night and sometimes some 1 pump time for newer paddlers.\nBooking: Contact us at info@dckc.co.uk to let us know how many people will be attending\, names\nand\, skill level\nCosts: £10 (basin-only is £5) – there is no cost for borrowing a boat or other kit at Pinkston.\nRemember to remove any ropes or tapes from your boat and equipment.
