Pool Sessions 2024 2025

November 19 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

DCKC Pool sessions

Our swimming pool sessions happen at Clydebank Swimming Pool [ Google maps link ] every Tuesday evening from September to the end of April.  Generally these are informal sessions which offer the opportunity to practise techniques and get used to being in a kayak.  With the benefit of being in warm/heated water, it’s the perfect opportunity to practise support strokes, capsize procedures, kayak rolling, balance exercises, and even just getting in and out of a kayak.

Pool session times

7.30 to 9pm.**

What to bring:-
A towel
Swimming costume
Thin thermal or t-shirt
Swimming googles
Optional (you can also bring if you wish – there is no requirement to bring these)
Neoprene Spray-deck
Your own paddle
What we provide
Kayaks (general purpose plastic & kayak polo style)
Paddles
Nylon Spray-decks
NOTES:
– This is a community even run by volunteers.  Please come along expecting to help manoeuvring kayaks and equipment in and out of the pool and into storage.  If you are unsure how to help please ask someone
– When you arrive at the pool there is no need to pay at the front desk – please continue through the changing area, get changed and payment can be made in cash at the poolside.  The pool session prices are shown here.
– In the kayak store on the far bank of the pool, the kayaks should be emptied of water and must be stored nose down (drain bung upwards) so that any remaining/residual water does not run out onto the store floor.
– If the pool is busy (more people than boats) we may split the session in 2 or just ask people to work in pairs.
**Unfortunately COVID impacts at the Leisure Centre mean we are not back to our regular 2 hour sessions but rather have a 90 minutes session.
