Tuesday Night Club Sessions during the COVID-19 Pandemic

DISCLAIMER: Attendance at a DCKC Club Night or Club Trip may incur some risk of contracting COVID-19. The committee has worked hard to minimise this risk and has produced a RISK ASSESSMENT and associated documents to manage the risk (these are available on the club website). The club will operate within government guidelines and as advised by the SCA, however, each individual member must form their own judgement regarding whether or not to attend any particular club activity.

If you are happy with this, then details for the Tuesday night sessions are as follows:

As a club, we will ONLY be able to accommodate a finite number of paddlers depending on the number of volunteer coaches/leaders for any specific club night.

YOU WILL THEREFORE NEED TO PRE-BOOK A SPACE ON EACH CLUB NIGHT THAT YOU WANT TO ATTEND. This includes people who have their own equipment.

If you need to borrow club equipment, this equipment will also need to be pre-booked. The booking system will be through the β€œstore” option on the membership system (see https://membermojo.co.uk/dckc). BOOKINGS WILL CLOSE ON THE MONDAY.

There is a guide to how to book onto the club night using the membership system on the club website (Members Pages). This is available here.

PLEASE DO NOT TURN UP ON A CLUB NIGHT WITHOUT HAVING PRE-BOOKED – THIS IS UNFAIR TO THE COACHES/LEADERS and you may be turned away.

There will be options to book on kayak, sea kayak, canoe and paddleboard sessions. The availability of these sessions will depend on which coaches and trip leaders can attend!

We will meet at the beach next to Drumkinnon Bay on Loch Lomond (no meeting at Clydebank store) if you have your own kit.

If you need to borrow club kit and have booked it out then we’ll see you at the Club Container next to the Duncan Mills slipway, Pier Rd, Balloch between 18.30 and 19.00.

See you there!

Accessing Club Equipment: You should turn up at the container in possession of a face covering and hand sanitiser or disposable gloves. We need to restrict the number of people in the container, so equipment may be passed out to you.

When on a Club Night: You should listen to the instructions given by the keyholder or trip leader and you should maintain social distancing. If at any point you think that things are unsafe, you should make this known to the keyholder or to the trip leader (this will often be the same person).

Rescues: You should be able to perform a self-rescue in the conditions in which you are paddling. The coach / leader will provide verbal guidance in the first instance if you need help with this. As a last resort, should you need assistance, listen to the advice of the trip leader who will be able to facilitate a suitable, socially distanced rescue. This may vary slightly to rescues that you have practised previously, so please follow the instructions given.

After the Trip / Club Night: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap when you return home.

Remember, you should not attend club events or activities if EITHER of the following apply:

  • You or someone in your household has any symptoms of Covid-19 i.e. new persistent cough, and/or fever, and/or change/loss of sense of smell or taste. If this is the case, you must self-isolate at home; seek testing for people with symptoms via NHS Inform; and NOT attend club events until your self-isolation period is complete.Β

OR

  • You have been in contact with someone with confirmed Covid-19 and have therefore been advised to self-isolate by NHS Test & Protect (contact tracing service).

Please see www.nhsinform.scot for more information on essential precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
